Humes Elected to LV Pretreatment Board

Wednesday, September 2, 2020

READING, PA – Entech is pleased to announce that Kara Humes, Senior Environmental Manager, was recently appointed to the Board of the Lehigh Valley Pretreatment Information Exchange, Inc. (PIX).

PIX was founded in the 1990’s by pretreatment personnel from the Allentown, Bethlehem, Catasauqua and Easton wastewater treatment plants.  In the early 2000’s, a Lehigh Valley based industry was ordered to pay a fine to USEPA which was subsequently earmarked as funds for the PIX Group with the understanding it would organize as a non-profit and continue its work with environmental awareness to the people, industry and regulators of the Lehigh Valley.

Their objective is to bring stakeholders together in a coordinated group to leverage limited resources through information sharing, networking, and mentoring; enabling businesses and municipalities that have successfully managed environmental issues to assist others with similar issues in a discrete and non-regulatory manner.

The PIX Group has held various seminars with the support of local industries and vendors ranging from local case studies, regulatory updates, innovative pretreatment options, and effects of emerging contaminants just to name a few.

PIX, Inc. Board President and Entech Compliance Coordinator, Tori Morgan, is eager for her participation, saying:

“[Kara] is a fantastic addition to the PIX Team and will bring exciting and innovative ideas to the group.  Kara comes to the Team at a great time as PIX is going through a bit of a face lift with updates to its Website and the initiation of a series of virtual networking roundtable sessions to reach out to PIX-er’s during this time of COVID.”

About Kara:

Kara has 36 years of experience in environmental management consulting and acts as senior environmental manager for the company. She manages a variety of projects located throughout the United States, including industrial pretreatment issues for both industry and municipalities, permitting and reporting involving air, wastewater, and solid waste, emergency response planning, and other environmental regulatory compliance issues.

Kara has been a member of the EPWPCOA’s Industrial Pretreatment Committee since 2001, acting as Chair of the Committee from 2003 through 2010. Kara served as Association Vice President in 2010 & 2011, President in 2012, and is currently serving as a Director.
