Facility Condition Assessment (FCA)

We were contracted to perform a facility condition assessment for PPL at 35 sites in their Central, Harrisburg, Lancaster, Lehigh, Northeast, Susquehanna, and General Office Regions, throughout Pennsylvania. These regions contained 76 structures, consisting primarily of service centers and transportation garages, as well as offices, auxiliary buildings, sheds, carports, drive-throughs, and warehouses.

Solution Details

We identified over 1,500 projects totaling nearly $76 million. The deferred maintenance projects totaled $45 million. Over $10 million in energy conservation opportunities were outlined, as well as many water conservation opportunities. Other significant budgeting considerations that were proposed include:

  • Electrical Improvements - $4.9 million
  • Roofing Projects - $3.5 million
  • Heating Projects - $2.9 million
  • Fire Protection - $2.6 million
  • Site Asphalt Budgets - $32 million

Using our FM-Assistant database allows PPL to rollup the needs of all of their facilities, capture the needs by region, view individual building conditions, and filter specific system recommendations to augment purchasing and contracting capabilities.

As part of the project scope, the projects were formatted that PPL could upload the projects into their maintenance software. Continual contact with the maintenance software’s IT staff throughout the project ensured a successful upload.
