Energy Consulting Owner's Representation
Your facilities (much like your people) need a lot of energy to keep running. As time goes on, buildings and their systems age, facility usage changes, and technology continually improves. The need to keep up creates opportunities to replace equipment and systems while reducing your energy bills and using energy savings to fund the upgrades.
What energy service options are available, and what’s the benefit?
The energy services industry has evolved to invite multiple financing approaches for addressing facility and campus infrastructure and operational concerns. These models fund improvements by realizing their associated energy savings over the life of the project, providing alternative funding strategies and creating funding mechanisms through energy savings.
Primary models that have emerged to address different organizational needs include:
Performance Contract - offers the lowest capital investment with fixed payment structures, where the owner maintains equipment ownership while working through traditional financing arrangements.
Energy Savings Agreement - provides performance-based payment models with moderate capital requirements, balancing risk between the owner and the ESA service provider through single-contract implementation.
Energy as a Service (EaaS) - delivers a comprehensive service package with a performance-based agreement, where the EaaS provider owns equipment for the service term and assumes responsibility for maintenance and performance risk.

Evaluating and understanding these programs, their structures, and the financial models can be intimidating, time consuming, and confusing. How do you start to evaluate your options and decide which improvements will have the most impact?
