Each year the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry announces new public project cost thresholds required for public bids. The thresholds for 2026 have increased again this year.
In 2026, the rates increased 3.0% from 2025 rates. Most government entity projects, including municipal authorities, counties, boroughs, and townships, will require a public bid when the project totals more than $24,500 in 2026.
Beginning on January 1, 2026, the bidding thresholds for municipal authorities will be as follows:
| Contract Amount | Bid Requirement |
| below $13,200 | No formal bidding or written/telephonic quotations required |
| $13,200-$24,500 | Three written/telephonic quotations required |
| over $24,500 | Formal bidding required |
See the complete bulletin with all the government entities and legislation via the Pennsylvania Bulletin.
