Overview
As a result of a PennDOT highway expansion project, the owner of a natural gas pipeline was faced with the need to relocate multiple pipelines within the affected area. This forced pipeline relocation required coordination with multiple area utilities and authorities to effectively route and install these lines in a highly developed area. This project consisted of all activities necessary to complete the demolition, abandonment, construction, and installation of relocated 8-inch & 12-inch high-pressure liquids pipeline segments.

Solution Details
8” Point Breeze Swedesford R. Pipeline - Approximately 1,000 linear feet (0.19 miles) of 8-inch ND pipeline segment was installed as a reroute due to a roadway expansion project. Approximately 40’ of the existing line was demolished and removed at each end of this new alignment allowing space for tie-ins.
12” Point Breeze Montecello Pipeline - Approximately 1,000 linear feet (0.19 miles) of 12-inch ND pipeline segment was installed as a reroute due to a roadway expansion project. Approximately 40’ of the existing line was demolished and removed at each end of this new alignment allowing space for tie-ins
8” & 12” Conventional Bore Crossing - One (1) conventional bore road crossing was required for this project. 8” and 12” lines were “bundled” to make a shared crossing of the affected roadway. Installation of a temporary 30” casing pipe to allow for the insertion of the bundled lines was required.
