Lead Service Line Replacements

Greenville Water Authority Greenville, PA

Projects

Overview

Greenville Water Authority maintains a two million gallon per day conventional filtration treatment plant, a booster pump station and five water storage tanks. The distribution system consists of approximately 28 miles of main distribution line in the Town of Greenville and 12 miles in Hempfield Township and West Salem Township. The Authority serves a population of approximately 7,500 consumers through 3,000 service connections and had lead service lines that needed to be replaced to meet the Revised Lead and Copper Rule Requirement.

Solution Details

This first phase of a system-wide Lead Line Replacement Project included engineering, design, permitting, bidding, and construction observation for over 12,500LF of cast iron mains with lead joints. The initial project included 90+ service lines and the replacement of approximately 9,620 LF of waterline. Once the project was underway, Greenville took advantage of available funds and added more than 3,000 LF of additional waterline and 34 service connections to the project. This project included PENNVEST funding assistance from Entech’s funding experts, that resulted in the successful award of $4.5M+ in grants to the Authority, which completely covered the cost of the project.
